Larger women are finding it much easier to find Women’s Plus Size Clothing in this day and age. Just a few years ago large clothing was made of unnatural fabrics that would send any designer into a coma as it would cling to the body and reveal any bumps. Everything was made in black to hide the body away and maybe no one would look at the larger women. Darker colors do actually hide things that larger women may not want people to see but it is not going to perform a miracle and make them look petite. There is no sense in wearing black when there are so many other colors that make a larger woman look beautiful.

Sometime during 1960 to 1970 society decided to shun larger women and prefer the stick figure woman with small physiques. Before that larger women were thought of as being healthy and curvy. Marilyn Monroe was far from a stick figure and was up on most locker room walls as were other fuller figured women. Fashionable clothing was only made for women with tiny bodies and larger women were out of luck.

The thought that most women did not look like twigs came to designers during the 1990 years. Larger women were tired of wearing clothing that made them look even larger and started to speak up requesting clothes that actually fit and looked good. Several women who were not thin but were celebrities added to the fray. Plus size women even were hired as models.

There are many companies that make affordable plus size clothing today and there are even some designers that specialize in plus size couture. You can go in any large department or discount chain and find a plus size department. There are some clothing shops that mix all sizes in because they make the same style for petites as they do for plus.

Plus size clothing usually runs from size fourteen and higher in the United States and size eighteen and up in the UK. It is also called Outsize clothing in other countries. Plus size clothing used to be made by using a pattern and adding inches to it. Now patterns are made directly for plus size women. Plus size clothing is produced in almost every country on the face of the earth and it makes large women look beautiful.

Lingerie is even being produced for plus size women. It was not long ago when a larger woman could only find basic bras in her size and panties where usually made from cotton and made of white material or some horrible calico that no one would even wear as a dress or other outer clothing. Today there is an abundance of bras and they come in all colors with lace and other ornamentation. Panties come in silks and have lace and you can even get plus size thongs. Sleepwear has also taken great strides. You can find sexy and silky night gowns along with flannel pajamas.

Black is still a color that can be worn by a plus size woman but you can find clothing of all colors today in a plus size department. It is more a question of the style than the color that makes a woman look her best. A dress that comes in at the waist with a belt and has many layers may look cute on a petite woman but it will look unflattering on a large size woman. A dress that has an empire waist or a sheath dress will look much better on a plus size woman.

Plus size women can afford beautiful clothing today. They can get jeans that fit, lingerie that makes them feel and look sexy, and have a variety of clothing from which to pick. It sure is different from the nasty rayon tent shaped clothing that was available in the past. Now plus size clothing is sophisticated and beautiful and just right for the plus size woman.

Women’s Plus Size Clothing has not always been easy to find. In the past plus size clothes have been relegated to stretchy polyester material that is not becoming on any body type including larger women because it clings to every hump and bulge.
