It’s Not Always In Stock - So, Just Ask!

Uncategorized No Comments

Over the past several years, and even more often with the economy like it is, we had started recommending that our customers send us an email asking if the item they are wanting to order is in stock.  Just because an item is listed on an Internet website, this  does not always mean that it is in stock.  Stock status changes daily (or even more often).  Don’t get me wrong, some websites out there do have stock status listed, but many others may deal with several different manufacturers and are not always capable of reporting stock status from each. So, therefore the item may be listed, but not in stock.

A good example of this is you might find a shoe on a website.  You wear a size 6 and you want to order the shoes in red.  You place the order and just assume that the item is in stock.  Unfortunately, the warehouse is sold out on the size 6 or the red color is sold out.  A few days later you either receive an email for you might try to call the company you placed the order with only to find out that the shoes is out of stock and may not be back in stock for 3 to 4 months.  It is only understandable as a customer you are unhappy because you wanted the shoes now, not 3 months from now.  I have had customer say “it said it was in stock when I ordered it.” But, no, the website did not say that.  Nor did it say that the size 6 or the red was out of stock.

When items come in a variety of sizes and/or colors it is very difficult to always know what is in stock and what is not.  We even have to check.  With some manufacturers warehouse, we can check inventories on-line but, with others we have to actually call the warehouse to check for your size and the color you want.  You can check the stock status before you place the order, with most good websites.  If you want it that much and If you don’t mind the item being possibly backordered then by al means place the order.

If you order without checking first, be sure to inquire about your order if you don’t receive it within 7 business days by sending an email to the company you purchased from.  One other suggestion before you send the email and make that phone call, would be to check your email.  With my company we use email to correspond with our customer but the email system is not always perfect.  Check you spam box!  If the companie’s email address is not in your address book, there is a good likelyhood that the email we send will go to your spam box.

I do hope this is some good information for making your purchases on the Internet go a little smoother.

Special notes for international buyers of products that must ship to a physical address that matches the billing address (where you receive your bill) for your credit card:

***If you order from outside the USA, there may be customs delays because of increased inspection of all packages in this post-September 11 era.
***Even though you have already paid shipping on products from the USA (via any merchant, not just us), you may have additional taxation and duties in your country. We can’t control what taxes you pay. If you order from the USA, you will likely pay VAT or other sales taxes at the point of delivery–in addition to the embedded tax present in all USA products. Consult your local taxation authorities to see how much they are going to charge, before placing your order.

You can check with me to find stock status by sending me an email.
Please include the size and color you want. I’m here to help…

Happy Internet Shipping,

Blondie
